Welcome to the Heritage Support Services Website.
Heritage 4.2.7 and 4.2.7a Patch
We are very pleased to announce that Heritage 4.2.7 is now available from the upgrades page. There is a lot that is new in this upgrade including a new-look OPAC with book cover images from Amazon, statistical reports, Windows XP themes and much more. See helpsheet HI60 for an overview of what is new in this version. A more detailed version is available in HI59. If you use Terminal Services, you should apply the 4.2.7a patch after upgrading.
A patch has also been released that fixes a few minor problems in 4.2.7 and is available from the upgrades page. Please ensure that you are running 4.2.7 before attempting to load this patch as it will not check your version before loading. Helpsheet HI61 gives details of what is changed and how to load the patch.
Heritage Online 3.2
Version 3.2 of Heritage Online is now available. This version will be in line with Heritage 4.2.7 and so will include the new interface and additional features such as book cover images. You must be running Heritage version 4.2.7 in order to use Heritage Online 3.2 because of changes in the licensing (see below). The helpsheets are available on the upgrades page, but because of changes in the licencing (see below) we are asking all users to contact us to request the upgrade.
There has been a significant change in the way in which Heritage Online 3.2 is licensed versus previous versions. The main reason behind this change is to be more flexible in how we handle our user counting meaning that even on small systems users are almost never prevented from accessing the software .
If you have purchased Heritage Online in the last 12 months it is likely you already have a new style licence. However, if not you will be required to trade in your existing licence for the new one before you can use Heritage Online 3.2. Details of these changes are available on the Heritage Online page of our website . If you are planning to upgrade please contact us as well and we will send you details about the most appropriate licence for you and the possible costs - if any - of upgrading. If you have any questions or queries please contact us on 01865 481000 for more information.

Website Facilities
The Website provides the following facilities to all Heritage users with a current maintenance agreement:
- access to Heritage Upgrades and Images

- answers
to Frequently
Asked Questions (FAQs)
- the facility to log
a Support call if you cannot find the
answer to your problem in the Manual, Helpsheets
or FAQs.

Online Support
Our Support Team can use the same software as used for Webtrainer service to enable them to access users' systems directly. We have recently switched from using Webex for this service to a new product called TeamViewer, as it is faster, easier to use and more flexible. It uses HTTP to communicate and therefore does not require any adjustments to firewalls. All communications using TeamViewer are encrypted using the same technology as https/SSL so it is secure. And because users need to give us a password each time we wish to use the service, it does not leave your system open to unauthorised access by our support team.
If you want to allow Heritage Technical Support secure access to your system you will be required to first provide us with a signed code of connection form. If you have already supplied one of these for Webex you do not need to provide a new one for TeamViewer.
Download Remote Support Code Of Connection Form
Read the TeamViewer security statement
The TeamViewer software will be included in the next release of Heritage and can be run as and when you need it. However, it is more convenient to use if it already exists in your Heritage folder.
Download the TeamViewer client to save into your Heritage folder
Documentation
When you purchase Heritage, a 'Getting Started' Guide is supplied to help get you launched, and a comprehensive online User Manual covering all aspects of the system is supplied as part of the package's Help. Both are provided in PDF format. Regardless of whether you are a new or existing user, the Guide and/or Manual can either be downloaded from this Website or supplied on CD-ROM (simply contact us).
In addition to the Manual, Help in the form of cue cards is provided throughout the system, at field, form and module level. All help screens are editable by library staff with the relevant system privileges.
