An Introduction to Reports

The workshop runs from 10am to 3.30pm with registration from 9.30am. It includes coffee or tea and biscuits and a choice of hot or cold lunch.

Introduction

The session focuses on the Reports Module in Heritage.

All sessions include a tutorial with hands-on practical exercises. Where possible, these are based on the data in the Demonstration Dataset which is available in your copy of Heritage. The workbooks can be used again at your site by other Library staff.

The Workshop includes practical exercises throughout the day to consolidate what you have learnt.

Who should attend?

This session is aimed at librarians who want to improve on their data reporting skills and start to learn the basics of the reporting module in Heritage and the construction parameters used. You must attend this course before attending the Advanced Reports course.

The ability to extract accurate statistics from your Library Management System is an integral part of library management and essential in helping you manage all aspects of your library. This Workshop is an introduction to Reports in Heritage which includes the Reports Wizard and some new statistical reports. It has been designed to give you the confidence and ability to get up and running with basic Heritage reporting. The Heritage Report Module includes a report designer which comes with circa 300 pre-defined reports sorted into report areas. These reports can be previewed with a sample of data to see if they meet your requirements. This workshop will look at the theory and practice of creating command line reports using easy-to-follow report ‘building blocks’. It will show you how to select Files and Fields. It will also explore the tools available in these reports to enhance the layout for display and to increase your reports functionality. The workshop will also look at the command line report wizard editing letter templates as well as using banded reports. The exercises in this workbook use the data in the demonstration dataset which is available in all copies of Heritage. Any reports that you create today can be exported and taken away for import into your live system.
