Intermediate Reports (231110H)

Introduction to reports workbook cover

The session focuses on the Reports Module in Heritage.

All sessions include a tutorial with hands-on practical exercises. Where possible, these are based on the data in the Demonstration Dataset which is available in your copy of Heritage. The workbooks can be used again at your site by other Library staff.

The Workshop includes practical exercises throughout the day to consolidate what you have learnt.

Who should attend?

This session is aimed at librarians who already successfully use the reports module to produce basic reports, and want to build on existing knowledge. Please note: you must attend the ‘Reports for Novices’ course before attending this and Advanced Reports courses.

The ability to extract accurate statistics from your Library Management System is an integral part of library management and essential in helping you manage all aspects of your library. This workshop is an intermediate level course which includes using both the Reports Wizard as well as producing Command Line Reports and editing Banded Reports.  This workshop explores how data is stored and retrieved and looks at identifying, copying and editing existing reports and overdue letters.  It will also cover how to effectively produce spine labels and membership cards for your library.

The exercises in this workbook use the data in the demonstration dataset which is available in all copies of Heritage. Any reports that you create today can be exported and taken away for import into your live system.

Some of the topics this Workshop will cover are as follows:

  • How Data is Stored & Retrieved
  • Copying & Editing Reports & Overdue Letters
  • Break on Command
  • Multiple Selection Criteria ('and' & 'or')
  • Statistical Reports
  • Editing Banded Letters
  • Spine Labels & Membership Cards
  • Identifying Accessions & Readers Who Have Avoided the Circulation System
  • Practical Exercises

Where possible we always try to cover the full course content. However content may vary depending on number of attendees and the overall ability of the group. To ensure that you cover everything that you are interested in you may want to consider a bespoke one-to-one training session. For more information please contact Craig Smith at craig@isoxford.com
